Key's Place in 1905

The C Shop building in 1905 when it was Key's Place. There was ice cream and candy then too! Hopefully the horses will be back this summer as well.

And time has passed! It was a hectic and quick two week transition from full-fledged Easter production to having the café open weekends. We are now up and running so, if you haven’t already, come see what’s new on the menu and say hello to your old friends and meet the crew that is new.

Emily, Kelsey and Kaitlyn are working the café this season although will also be smiling on the candy side of things occasionally. Kelsey and Kaitlyn are proving to be quite the pizza mavens. Molly is back after some years of hiatus mixing it up with some baking and some café. We have a couple of new bakers, Alli and Laura, in addition to Molly and me (Saara) so there should be something fresh in the bake case each day. New breads are here this season too. Sadie and Kailey are quickly showing themselves to be excellent additions to the team and are learning fast under Maria’s apt tutelage.

On the candy side of things, Martha has taken up the reins as candy manager. She and Vicki have transformed the shop from it’s Easter trappings to a vibrant summer candy heaven. Georgia has been making marshmallow, peanut brittle and fudge in all flavors while Keith made a batch of carmel and has been tinkering with seafoam formulations. Something new is popping into the case on nearly a daily basis! There are many new faces as well in the candy shop, but among others we have back Sarah, Daulton and Bailey. It’s so much fun to have a mix of the fresh and the familiar.

Meador's Birch Bay Resort in 1950

Meador's Birch Bay Resort in 1950. We still serve Coca-Cola in glass bottles, but we no longer give you gas.

We’re currently open weekends only (Saturdays 11am-10pm and Sundays 11am-6pm) although the candy shop is also open on random sunny days and Thursdays during the Birch Bay Thursday Market which runs from 4pm-7pm. We’re also open this Memorial Day Monday from 11am-6pm so we’ll be open later the preceding Sunday until 10pm. We will have a menu link posted here soon, but meanwhile we hope you come in and see us!
